Milwaukee, or as some Native Americans called it, Millioke which means the Gathering Place by the Waters, is a perfect host for AIAS FORUM 2007. Located in the Southeast corner of Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan, Milwaukee is a gem of mid-size cities. Milwaukee is home to Miller Brewing Company and Harley Davidson as well as several other major companies and organizations.
As the city emerges from a historic industrial city into a modern metropolis, conference attendees will be able to experience the motion of design at a microcosm right in Milwaukee.
With a city population of 590,000 (metro population of 2 million) Milwaukee is the 22nd largest city in the United States. This past year, Milwaukee was named one of 12 distinct destinations to visit by the National Trust of Historic Preservation. Not to mention Milwaukee is home to a number of Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural icons and Santiago Calatrava's first built building in the United States: the world renowned addition to the Milwaukee Art Museum. The city offers much more architecturally as is discussed in the architecture link under the menu bar.
Milwaukee is a very diverse and vibrant city and its Midwestern hospitality will be sure to show you a great time. The city is built upon the blend of cultures and we celebrate it with our first class museums like the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Eisner Museum of Advertising and Design, numerous art galleries, historic and modern theaters, a variety of restaurants, shops, an abundance of night life options, and amazing architecture. Not to mention numerous breweries and brewpubs, including the Miller Brewery that give Milwaukee its' name, Brew City!
Don't miss out on the fun; make sure to visit Milwaukee for AIAS FORUM 2007!
