Join us in an all day design charrette to be held on the campus of the University of Colorado Denver. You will have the opportunity to test your skills and talent against other FORUM participants. In teams of three you will be challenged to create a design for future campus-based design studios. You may register as a team or as an individual (to be placed in a team with other participants). The program and site will be provided on the day of the charrette. There is a limit of 60 people (20 teams) and all participants will be placed on teams on a first-come, first-served basis. Cash prizes will be awarded.
2008 Milwaukee Transit Stop Design Competition
Sponsored by The Vinyl Institute
The program will challenge students to learn about materials, specifically vinyl building products, and their assembly in the design of a bicycle center for Denver. Participants will gain knowledge about building materials and products while exploring the AIAS FORUM 2008 theme, "Energy." This year's competition also offers an advanced division, allowing students to look at the energy efficiency of the center
Total prize money is $13,650, including $2,500 each for the winning design and the advanced winning design. This competition calls for students to design a useable bus stop that includes seating, shelter and display space for transit information. For this competition, the definition of a bicycle center will be a small light structure with one or more open sides. A minimum of 60% of the visible piece must be constructed out of vinyl building products. This project should showcase some unique and creative uses for vinyl building products.
