Monday, December 29 | 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Fee: $50.00
It is a challenge to design a portfolio with a professional look from the first to the last pages with continuity and consistency. It is significant to design professionals, no matter what form of print or electronic presentation one adopts, to have clear plans for the visual and written presentation of your work. This is perhaps one of the most important decisions one explores in preparation for employment interviews, fellowships, grants and postgraduate academic opportunities. Examples of the organization and graphic design for digital approaches to creating portfolios on CD-Rom and on the Web are also included.
Workshop 3: Digital Photography
Monday, December 29 | 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Fee: $50.00
You will be immersed in a full day of heightened visual engagement, new photographic technologies, and contemporary architecture. The day will start with a presentation of traditional and contemporary photographers and artists who utilize important elements of design, such as composition, framing, repetition, and perspective. Following will be a discussion about digital cameras and how to make a proper exposure, digital sensors, manual and automatic settings, mega pixels, and file format.
Afterwards you will be briefed on a site-specific shot list including the architectural, cultural, and geographic significance of each location. The challenge for the day will be to photograph specified urban design in a way that captures dynamism and movement in a single still-frame. The instructor will encourage you do this by portraying architecture via light, atmosphere, and within a cultural context. With all this in mind you will venture into the city to the sites as a group to explore technical questions.
Following this you will come back to the hotel where the group will learn to digitally edit the photographs to enhance your context. At this point there will be a show and tell session, which will include a constructive critique of your photographic accomplishments.
