The AIAS will be offering several design competitions in conjunction with this year's FORUM.
DESIGN CHARRETT
Tuesday, December 29 | 9:00 AM - 4:30 PMFree
Join us in an all day design charrette to be held on the campus of the University of Minnesota. You will have the opportunity to test your skills and talent against other FORUM participants. You may register as a team or as an individual (to be placed in a team with other participants). The program and site will be provided on the day of the charrette. There is a limit of 60 people (20 teams) and all participants will be placed on teams on a first-come, first-served basis. Cash prizes will be awarded. To participate, indicate your interest when you register for the convention.

BOHEMIAN FLATS BOATHOUSE STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION
Sponsored by The Vinyl InstituteThe program encourageS students to learn further about construction materials, specifically vinyl building products, and their assembly in the design of a boathouse in Minneapolis. Participants will gain knowledge about building materials and products while exploring the AIAS FORUM 2009 theme, "Connections."
Sponsored by The Vinyl Institute and administered by the American Institute of Architecture Students, the program challenges students to learn about building materials, specifically vinyl building products and systems in the design of an efficient and creative boathouse for the Bohemian Flats Park in Minneapolis. The competition is designed for architecture and design students of all levels. Total prize money is $7,675, including $2,500 for the first place winning design. Registration due on October 29, 2009.
