Phil Bernstein, Yale lecturer and vice president of Building Industry Strategy and Relations at Autodesk, presented at the 2009 AIAS Grassroots Leadership Conference held in Washington, DC. Bernstein gave an inspirational presentation, Leadership by Design--How to Develop and Sustain Leadership, to more than 100 AIAS student chapter leaders. Bernstein talked about how the next generation will help design a better process and impact the construct of how buildings are designed and built and, ultimately, change the architect's role. This technology-savvy generation will turn challenges such as a slowing economy, sustainable design, and integrated project delivery concepts into opportunities that will change the professional practice using building information modeling.
