Temporary Position at AIA National Office
The Integrated Web Strategy and Technology Team for The American Institute of Architects is asking students in the DC Metro area to submit their resumes for a temporary position at the National Office in Washington, DC.
Description of the Position
This is a 2 month temporary position on the Integrated Web Strategy and Technology Team reporting to the Director of Association Management Systems. The function of this position is to develop online content for AIA’s Broadcastr Project. The content will be in the form of Web essays and audio capture about specific architectural projects in the Los Angeles, Washington DC, and New York areas. Writing and content development:
Conduct research on Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and New York City project sites using the AIA Archives, the Internet, and Architect interviews
Develop an online essay consisting of roughly 350 words about projects that includes (but not limited to) fun facts, information about the Architect, and information about the firm
Assist in obtaining images for Web content
Schedule interviews with Architects
Obtain AIA's signed release for all audio interviews
Conduct Architect interviews using Skype or a teleconferencing line with recording capabilities
Assist in editing content to a 2-3 minute audio recording
Obtain images for use online for each structure
Superior writing and analysis skills preferred. Superior technical skills, attention to detail are required. Superior editing skills are also required. Must have exceptional customer service skills as communication with AIA members is necessary. Experience working with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Skype, and basic teleconferencing software.
Completion of an architecture degree program (B.S., B.A., B.Arch, M.Arch, D.Arch); or current enrollment in an architecture degree program (B.S., B.A., B.Arch, M.Arch, D.Arch); or completion of, or enrollment in, a non-architecture degree program with demonstrated interest – through prior work or other experience – in the architecture profession; or significant experience developing content for the built community.
