SUMMARY:JEDITF Webinar: Challenging Homogeneous Architectural Education
DESCRIPTION:In the first webinar of our J.E.D.I. series\, the AIAS explores the history that has resulted in the prioritization of a white agenda throughout architectural education across universities in the United States. This webinar hopes to explore the homogenous makeup of architectural education through a panel discussion between students and other architecture professionals. Through this exploration we aim to create an anti-racist environment in schools and workplaces. These conversations aid in helping us become more inclusive and equitable architects\, designers\, planners\, and future built environment professionals. This webinar is also intended to create better understanding and communication about race within our design community of students\, alumni\, and working professionals.

SUMMARY:2022 Spring South Quad Conference Bidding Presentations
DESCRIPTION:Each year\, regional conferences take place in the Midwest\, Northeast\, South\, and West Quads. These gatherings\, known as Quad Conferences\, are hosted by local chapters who have been selected to organize the event by their Quad. Themes vary based on the city\, local culture\, and topics of choice. \nNow for some big news… \nWhile these conferences will be held virtually to maintain safety and accessibility for our members\, for the first time in more than a year bidding chapters have the opportunity to propose a limited number of in-person events as well! In this way\, Spring 2022 Quad Conferences may serve as the AIAS’s first foray into hybrid programming. \nQuad Conferences are a terrific way to meet other students in your region\, learn about architecture (among other subjects!) outside of the classroom\, and have a lot of fun! \nJoin us for the 2022 Spring South Quad Conference Bidding Presentations on Saturday\, September 25\, 2021 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm Eastern Time. \n Zoom Event Link\n

SUMMARY:AIAS GRASSROOTS 2021: EVOLVE
DESCRIPTION:EVOLVE- The world has radically changed in many ways in a short period of time. The life of our organization and the lives of our members have changed forever. As the next generation of professionals\, growth is not just important – it is essential. We must constantly move forward\, looking not to return to normalcy\, but to find a new normal together. On our journey we will break through barriers and build lasting bridges that will carry us into a future we want to live in. Let’s set the precedent for our AIAS by dedicating ourselves to a lifelong process of learning.  We will compare ourselves not to others\, but to who we were yesterday\, strive for progress\, not perfection\, and we will EVOLVE. \n  \n Learn More!

SUMMARY:AIAS LAU SYMPOSIUM - BEIRUT: THE CITY IN VIOLENCE
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, June 10- Saturday June 12\, 2021 from 3:00 pm-7:00pm (GMT +3). \nDespite the richness of its past and the plethora of its possibilities\, Beirut veils its traces and tricks its visitors. Scars and scabs left right and center\, morph a peculiar identity of the city. Nonetheless\, the collective memory remains far from achieved\, and what is collective is nothing but amnesia. “Beirut: The City In Violence” aims at speculating upon the built and unbuilt fabric of Beirut through its political and social manifestations. It projects the future of reconstruction whilst delving deeper into the political fabric of the city. In a unique attempt\, “Beirut: The City In Violence” generates a discussion in both vertical and horizontal interactions\, where professionals\, professors and students exchange ideas and proposals for the future of our city. \nThe virtual event (on Webex) will feature three keynote speakers\, sharing their knowledge of and experience in the city. It will include presentations from eight local universities\, highlighting student work from the past year. It will also introduce three firm tours\, giving us a closer look at the work being done in Beirut amidst the unfolding crises. Opening and concluding remarks will be shared by AIAS LAU’s chapter President. \n  \n Register Here!
