SUMMARY:Conference on Housing\, Land\, and Property in Crisis Contexts
DESCRIPTION:The first U.S. conference on Housing\, Land\, and Property (HLP) in Crisis Contexts is planned with Howard University’s Department of Architecture and will be hosted at Howard University in Washington D.C.\, USA on June 5th and 6th (9am – 1pm ET). The conference will bring together academia\, donor organizations\, the private sector\, the United Nations and International Organizations\, and global NGOs to discuss HLP issues faced by people and communities after conflicts and disasters worldwide. \nAdmission is free and there will be additional free trainings on both afternoons on housing land and property rights in crises. \nThe purpose of the event is to share experiences and practices relating to HLP issues faced by displaced and at-risk communities to build a community of practice and identify steps forward. Initially convened by internationally focused humanitarian and development organizations\, this conference will also look at HLP with marginalized and indigenous communities in the United States to share learnings with colleagues working internationally. \nWhile participation will mainly be in person\, plenary sessions will be streamed online. \nA link to access the event online will be posted here ahead of the conference.

SUMMARY:AIAS Quad Conferences - Informational Call
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an informational call where we will discuss programming requirements\, things you need to keep in mind\, and any other important information you may need in order to host a successful Quad Conference in 2024. Additionally\, this is a great time to ask questions! \nEach year\, regional conferences take place in the Midwest\, Northeast\, South\, and West Quads. These gatherings\, known as Quad Conferences\, are hosted by local chapters who have been selected to organize the event by their Quad. Themes vary based on the city\, local culture\, and topics of choice. \nQuad Conferences are a terrific way to meet other students in your region\, learn about architecture outside of the classroom\, and have a lot of fun! \nIf your Chapter is interested in bidding\, read through the Bid Packet linked below! The responsibilities for Quad Conferences have been reconsidered and shifted to alleviate pressure on the student planning teams\, and the bidding timeline has been condensed\, so please pay attention to the responsibilities page and the timeline. \n BID PACKET\nNote: South and West Quads will be bidding for conferences that occur in Spring 2024\, while Midwest and Northeast Quads will be bidding for conferences that occur in Fall 2024. There are recommended dates suggested by the AIAS National Office in the bid packet. If you have questions\, please reach out to Jody Allen\, Director of Programs and Education at jodyallen@aias.org.
