Hello AIAS!
Exciting news! The AIAS Membership Committee is proud to announce the official launch of the 2022-2023 AIAS Chapter Alumni Mentorship Program (CAMP) to keep AIAS alumni connected to the AIAS community!
We’ve renamed the program to the AIAS Chapter Alumni Mentorship Program for clarity on this program, as mentorship from past AIAS Members to current Chapters as a whole.
This program is designed to give our alumni who have given their time and resources to the organization, an opportunity to engage with AIAS chapters as their mentors. Mentee Chapters and their leaders go above and beyond to manage local AIAS chapters in the midst of their architecture education and could use the advice and experience from someone who faced many similar challenges in running their chapter!
Over the past year, the Membership Committee has been working with the current group of mentee chapters and AIAS Alumni Mentors, providing a framework of mentorship in the AIAS between chapters and alumni. This year we had over twenty five mentor/mentee pairings!
In the past year, our AIAS chapters and alumni mentors both benefitted from the conversations they had. Throughout the year, they discussed important topics such as administering chapter elections and transitions effectively, fundraising help, event planning, managing FBD projects, and more!
Stay plugged into the AIAS community and mentor a chapter for a year as an AIAS Alumni member, OR become a mentee chapter! Just fill out the interest survey ASAP! We’ll have a mixer/speed-dating zoom call for chapters and alumni mentors in September, and then we’ll pair up chapters with a mentor in October!
In addition to your pairings, the Membership Committee will provide you with a guide that talks about mentorship best practices, suggested meeting times, topics for conversation, etc. For more information or additional questions, email vicepresident@aias.org.
