Washington, DC – January 9, 2022 – Chapter leaders of the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) have cast their ballots for the next Board of Directors. During the annual FORUM conference, which took place virtually from January 6, 2022 – January 8, 2022, the Council of Presidents elected the new incoming board of directors for the organization. The 2022-2023 Middle East Regional Ambassador was appointed by the Board of Directors at their Winter Meeting which took place in December 2021.

President: Cooper Moore, Kent State University
Vice President: Nicole Bass City College of New York
Northeast Quad Director: Julia Andor, New York Institute of Technology – Long Island
South Quad Director: Colt Brock, Georgia Institute of Technology
Midwest Quad Director: Ethan Sandburg, University of Kansas
West Quad Director: Tristan Osorio, University of Nevada – Las Vegas
Middle East Ambassador: Marcelle El Achkar, Holy Spirit University of Kaslik
Latin America Ambassador: TBD

President-elect Cooper Moore will serve as the organization’s 66th President. “Thank you for not being easy on us and asking some really difficult questions this week. Keep it up! We can’t lose that spirit. We have to keep asking uncomfortable questions, even if – and especially when – we know we won’t like the answers.”

Moore and Vice President-elect Nicole Bass addressed attendees at the conference, “My greatest appreciation I have in my architecture school experience is the AIAS community for the willingness to bring students together and have real and tough conversations about architecture year after year.”

Those elected, including Quad Directors and Ambassadors, will serve a one-year term on the AIAS Board of Directors. During this time the President and Vice President relocate to the National Office in Washington, D.C. and work as full-time employees of the AIAS.

The newly elected board officially begins their duties on the 1st of July and will be sworn in during Grassroots 2022. In the six-month lead up to commencing their terms, the Board-Elect will work closely with their predecessors to become familiar with their role on the board, including an orientation concurrent with the Spring Board of Directors Meeting.
