University of MemphisThe AIAS is proud to recognize Whitney House from the University of Memphis as our June Chapter Leader of the Month, celebrating her dedication to growth, leadership, and creating meaningful opportunities for her peers.
As Chapter President, Whitney has focused her leadership on expanding access—ensuring students are exposed to experiences that enhance both their education and their path into the profession. Through her efforts, the chapter has seen increased engagement and growth, supported by a wide range of programming that connects students to real-world practice.
Whitney has coordinated numerous site visits to active construction projects, hosted the chapter’s Third Annual Career Fair, brought in guest professionals, and created accessible, community-driven events that keep members engaged. Her leadership reflects a commitment to meeting students where they are—offering both professional development opportunities and moments of connection that strengthen the chapter as a whole.
Beyond programming, Whitney has taken initiative in supporting her peers’ long-term success. Through her engagement with NAAB and her role as an NCARB Student Licensing Advisor, she has worked to provide guidance around licensure, career pathways, and navigating the transition from school to practice.
A key part of Whitney’s impact has been her ability to build relationships beyond campus. By strengthening ties with the AIA Memphis Chapter, she has helped create opportunities for students to connect with professionals, expand their networks, and gain insight into the field—opening doors that extend far beyond the classroom.
