Each year, regional conferences take place in the Midwest, Northeast, South, and West Quads. These gatherings, known as Quad Conferences, are hosted by local chapters who have been selected to organize the event by their Quad. Themes vary based on the city, local culture, and topics of choice.

Now for some big news…

While these conferences will be held virtually to maintain safety and accessibility for our members, for the first time in more than a year bidding chapters have the opportunity to propose a limited number of in-person events as well! In this way, Spring 2022 Quad Conferences may serve as the AIAS’s first foray into hybrid programming.

Quad Conferences are a terrific way to meet other students in your region, learn about architecture (among other subjects!) outside of the classroom, and have a lot of fun!

Here’s where the Quad Conferences have been recently:

2019-2020 School Year

Fall 2019 Northeast Quad: Hosted by Temple University in Philadelphia, PA

Fall 2019 West Quad: Hosted by University of Hawaii – Manoa in Honolulu, HI

2020-2021 School Year

Fall 2020 Midwest Quad: Hosted by Bowling Green State University virtually from Bowling Green, OH

Fall 2020 South Quad: Hosted by Oklahoma State University virtually from Stillwater, OK

Because no Quad Conferences were held in spring of 2021 and none will be held in the fall of 2021, conference bidding for the spring of 2022 is now open to all Quads! This means the AIAS is currently looking for schools interested in hosting a regional conference in your Quad! If your Chapter is interested in bidding, then please inform your Quad Director (midwest@aias.org, northeast@aias.org, south@aias.org or west@aias.org) as well as President Scott Cornelius (president@aias.org), and read through the Bid Packet below! The bidding timeline has been condensed for this year, so please pay special attention to the timeline.

The deadline to declare your intent to your Quad Director and to the National President is August 20th, 2021. This serves as the first step in the process and as a means to ensuring your chapter understands the requirements and obligations. An orientation call about what planning a Quad Conference would entail will take place on August 25th, and your Quad Director will facilitate the presentation meeting on September 25th.
