As part of the NCARB partnership supporting Freedom By Design (FBD), grant funding is once again available to assist with FBD Director attendance at AIAS Grassroots at a $0 registration fee. The standard registration fee is $200.

Attendance at Grassroots by the chapter FBD Director is encouraged in order to receive the training, resources, and a support network necessary to ensure success in the coming year. FBD Directors will learn about the administration of the program (including risk and liability), how to find and manage a client, how to fundraise, how to manage a volunteer team, and how to engage with a design mentor and construction mentor. Additionally, case studies will highlight FBD best practices and inspire chapters to have a greater impact on their communities than ever before. FBD Programs who have a representative in attendance at either the in-person FBD session at Grassroots or the virtual FBD session at Leadership Day on July 16th will be prioritized for grant funding in the coming year.

The grant application is below. The application deadline is Friday, June 17th at 11:59 pm EST. AIAS chapters with FBD projects of all sizes and scopes are encouraged to apply, including chapters who are initiating Freedom by Design projects for the first time in 2022-2023.

*Please note that the grants only cover registration fees.
*To receive this grant you MUST be a registered member of the AIAS.
