Each month, the AIAS highlights the outstanding dedication and accomplishments of one of its members. The Chapter Leader of the Month can be a Chapter President or any member who has shown tremendous leadership.

Carolina Gutiérrez is a recent graduate from the University of Monterrey in Mexico and is currently the chapter president of the AIAS UDEM Chapter.

When speaking of her term as chapter president she notes, “This last management we have focused on making the chapter known both locally and internationally. Some things that we have implemented that have seen work for our chapter to grow were, having weekly meetings with all the board members, being open to proposals from all the members, getting involved in different committees of AIAS ORG, making our events open for all university students but give priority to members, hold events with other student groups and organizations among others.”

Carolina’s nominators Adan Hernadez and Nicole Bass had very kind words about the impact that Carolina has had on the AIAS not only on a chapter level, but also on a national level.

Adan Hernandez: “I nominate Carolina due to her continuity in the chapter of UDEM, her effort in establishing a stronger connection with the national board and her leadership skills as the UDEM president.”

Nicole Bass: “It was a pleasure getting to know Carolina this year through Council of Global Representatives. Hearing her experience and insight as a Chapter President for a Latin American chapter was refreshing and I always appreciated her honesty and advocacy.”

Carolina believes that being able to generate a network of support, friendship, and community within the chapter is one of the most important parts within an AIAS chapter. In reflecting on her time she said, “I am very grateful to all the members of the chapter because nothing we have achieved this past year would have been possible without the support and dedication of each one of them. “

WHAT BENJAMIN MOORE® COLOR BEST REPRESENTS YOUR PERSONALITY AND WHY?

“Beigewood” is  Carolina’s color of choice because she feels that neutrals “are a great base for large elements and you can always make different sets with different colors and it will look good. I like this color because it conveys peace and reminds me of natural wood colors.”
