The American Institute of Architecture Students at Lawrence Technological University hosted the Midwest Quad Conference March 11th-13th, 2016.

Students selected from eleven different activity paths, each of which are set in different districts of Detroit. These paths focused on different facets of architecture, such as crafting and materials in Hamtramck and urban planning and development on the new downtown riverfront. Through the paths, students participated in two actions, which varied between tours, workshops and design charrettes depending on which of the eleven they chose. These activities were designed to broaden students’ knowledge of their selected type of alternative architecture as well as encourage them to explore Detroit’s unique and renowned design scene.
