January 29, 2019

We are excited to announce the inaugural International Ambassadors! Anexyuliane Thillet, of Universidad Politecnica de Puerto Rico*, will be serving as the AIAS Latin America Ambassador and Sandi Boutros, of the American University in Dubai, as the the AIAS Middle East Ambassador. The 2018-2019 AIAS Board of Directors formally appointed these two individuals to their roles at the FORUM Board of Directors Meeting. Both will be serving their term throughout the remainder of the 2018-2019 AIAS year. These Ambassadors will oversee chapters within their specific International Regions and serve them as facilitators, advisors and advocates. By having a point of contact in these areas of AIAS membership, the we believe this will aid both AIAS Middle East and AIAS Latin America in strengthening their own AIAS cultures, local networks, and identities. These two also serve as advisors to the Board of Directors, which will strengthen communication paths between international chapters and the Board. Please join us in congratulating these wonderful applicants and their appointments for the inaugural AIAS Latin America Ambassador and AIAS Middle East Ambassador positions!

There will be a call for applicants for the 2019-2020 International Ambassadors this coming spring. The roles of the Ambassadors provide new leadership opportunities for our international members, which can become a pipeline for those seeking to run for Officer positions in the future. Stay tuned for more information later this term!

*Note: While Universidad Politecnica de Puerto Rico remains in the South Quadrant, the chapters in the Latin America Region are all rather new, or underdeveloped. While Anexyuliane is not a student in that Region, given her proximity, AIAS experience and relatability to chapters and individuals in that Region, this appointment was made.
