Welcome to the 2025 West Quad Conference – “uncommon ground”!

Host School: University of Idaho

Moscow, Idaho

March 27-30, 2025

Known as “the heart of the arts,” Moscow is located amongst the breathtaking hills of the Palouse. The conference, titled uncommon ground, seeks to explore three themes:

context
Architecture happens everywhere, from the densest city to the broadest landscape. When there is no city to act as a backdrop, where does architecture go? It turns to the ground, echoing the natural environment and rooting itself in place.
community
A building is only as strong as those who occupy it. Strong, sensible architecture can facilitate interpersonal interactions and a sense of well-being. It’s the architect’s responsibility to care for the communities that use the buildings they design.
collaboration
It is important to leverage our diverse community and show what is possible when art, design and architecture intersect. We believe reaching across disciplines can broaden architectural narratives, fuel creativity, and provide unforeseen opportunities.

These themes will present themselves through workshops, building tours, professional networking events, social gatherings and keynote lectures.
