Hello and welcome!
As the AIAS enters its 66th year, we want to acknowledge that we are passing our lives in serious times. The world has changed dramatically since we last saw each other for an in-person Grassroots, and it’s still changing every day. This will be a year for REMEMBERING how far we’ve come and REFLECTING on the choices we’ve made, barriers we’ve broken, and lessons we’ve learned. We’re so excited to kick off the year with a REUNION at Grassroots this summer! We’ll be REVIVING some of our favorite traditions like the block party and leadership sessions, but we’ll also be introducing a REVAMP of the conference structure. This year we’re placing the focus on decentralizing the conference and moving throughout the city to take advantage of everything our nation’s capital has to offer. Look forward to connecting with local architects and designers, working with allied organizations, seeing famous landmarks, and so much more! After being apart for so long, we can’t wait to (safely) host you all in-person again.
Grassroots will be an introduction to the overarching themes of the year, but we’ll be RETURNING to them in the coming months and beyond. With the guide of our new strategic plan, Let’s RENEW our commitment to our goals, fix what doesn’t work, and enhance the areas that AIAS is strong in. We’ve come a long way, and there’s still a long way to go. We won’t get there alone, so let’s go together, as one group of students, following our hearts and working towards a future worth designing and living in. Our organization is unique and diverse in so many ways, and these differences, backgrounds, and experiences are what give us the strength to make the changes we want to see in the future .The student voice is unmistakably powerful, and this year it will REVERBERATE like never before. The AIAS is getting back together.

*Proof of vaccination OR a negative COVID test will be required before attending the Grassroots in person. President Cornelius will provide all registrants with a link to upload proof of vaccination a few weeks before Grassroots, if you are not vaccinated you will need to provide proof of a negative COVID test taken less than 72 hours before the conference. This proof will need to be provided BEFORE conference check-in.*
