The American Institute of Architecture Students is proud to present the inaugural year of the FORUM Travel Scholarship! This scholarship is made possible by an endowment that was donated to help students from historically underrepresented chapters attend our largest conference of the year. The AIAS is excited to offer 8 travel scholarships of up to $500 to students who are from states where transportation to FORUM may become cost-prohibitive.
This scholarship is travel-based, so geographic eligibility will change every year depending on where FORUM is being hosted. In order to be eligible for the scholarship this year (2019), the residency on your current driver’s license, passport, or official ID must be in one of the highlighted states (above) or in our Latin American, Middle Eastern, or other International Regions*. Students from community college chapters, high school chapters, brand new chapters, and chapters at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (“HBCUs”) or Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (“HACUs”) will be given first priority for these scholarships per the criteria of the 2018-2019 Board of Directors that commissioned the scholarship. The deadline to submit your application is Friday, October 11, 2019 at 23:59:59 Hawaii–Aleutian Standard Time (HST). The winners will be announced before October 25, 2019.
The application process involves submitting basic information and answering a few questions, after which, selected applicants will be asked to send in their documents for address verification and to register for FORUM**. Scholarship award winners will process their travel arrangements with our Director of Partnerships & Events, Kimberly Tuttle. Questions about the scholarship can be emailed to president@aias.org.
If you are ineligible for the scholarship, or apply and are not selected, or would like to save money on travel, lodging, or registration for FORUM, talk to your Quad Director about fundraising and budgeting for the conference! Your fellow chapters may also have great strategies for getting funds from your school, college, or a local firm. It’s never too early to start thinking about how your chapter will get to FORUM, and this year’s conference is shaping up to be one of the best yet! aiasforum2019.com
