The Future Architects of the Middle East (FAME) is organizing this February. FAME is an organization dedicated to celebrating historical and modern contributions to the global community by MENA and SWANA artists, activists, and architects, focusing on the Middle East. They aim to shed light on non-European modes of architectural thought and expression and celebrate historical and modern contributions by Middle Eastern artists, activists, and architects to the global community. We do so through our publication Mashrabiya, which you can check out on Instagram.
The “Alternative Career Paths Symposium” has various panels exploring career paths bringing in speakers from different disciplines from around the world to talk about the path they took and various opportunities accessible with their degrees. Given that we have such a diverse student body at the GSD, both culturally and professionally, this would benefit the students begin to theorize routes after graduating. There will be eight panels addressing:
1- International Firms + Real Estate and Development
2- “Typical” Architecture
3- Academia and Doctorate studies
7- Middle Eastern Studies
