Last year, the 2019 – 2020 Learning and Technology Task Force was tasked with continuing to refine the initiatives already executed and in the works by the Design Think Tank during the 2017-2018 year. Our Charges were to explore the advancement of learning, design, and technology among AIAS members and potential relevant resources in order to further develop Designers of AIAS, explore ways to showcase architecture students as leaders and educators in design and discuss ways the AIAS can provide educational content or teach new skill sets to members. As we continued to work throughout the year, we further expanded our goals to leverage the large amounts of resources available to AIAS members to enable chapters to integrate education programming in their planning, refine both Designers of AIAS and the Thrive: AXP Journal to review and refine presentation, submission process, and marketing to membership of this content, and review current organization of resources, define marketing strategies and promo tools as well as help local chapters organize events focused on design education.

The 2020 – 2021 Design and Technology Task Force was tasked with continuing to develop these resource guides and we are excited to share the culmination of two years of research with all of AIAS. Our additional charges were to educate chapters and members about best practices for hosting virtual events, workshops, and tutorials; evaluate current AIAS Competitions, propose updates and explore new initiatives; and in collaboration with the Social Justice Task Force, explore universal design and accessibility strategies and brainstorm the implementation of them into the curriculum in schools of architecture.
