Each month, the AIAS highlights the outstanding dedication and accomplishments of one of its members. The Chapter Leader of the Month can be a Chapter President or any member who has shown tremendous leadership.

Lori North is currently in her fourth-year at Clemson University and is serving as the co-president of her chapter and a member of the AIAS Equity and Diversity Task Force. Previously, she has held roles as Publicity Chair and Treasurer.

Lori initially joined AIAS in the spring of my freshman year when she attended South Quad Conference in Savannah, GA. She fell in love with the empowering camaraderie she saw in this organization. Since then, she has been eager to share that experience with as many people in her school as possible. During her time with AIAS Clemson, the chapter has been able to increase marketing efforts, meet funding goals, and start a peer-to-peer mentorship program. They’ve also employed a leadership shadowing program to make for a smoother officer transition for students leaving to study abroad. This also offers more opportunities for the general membership to become involved as leaders. This year, they’ve also planned several successful social functions and workshops, and have even more planned for the spring!

South Quad Director Paul Bamson says that Lori is working toward increasing involvement with all members. “ She is also working towards bridging the gap between and fostering collaborations with Graduate, MLA, and Construction Science students. Lori is driven, dedicated, and passionate about the success of her chapter,” says Paul.

Lori hopes to continue to increase the cross-disciplinary involvement and overall membership engagement in the chapter’s programs and events in the year to come. She is immensely thankful for the wonderful board members that continually exude initiative and passion!

What Benjamin Moore® color would you paint your workspace to help inspire you and why?

Stone White, because it’s neutral, bright, and a little on the cool side.
