Each year, regional conferences take place in the Midwest, Northeast, South, and West Quads. These gatherings, known as Quad Conferences, are hosted by local chapters who have been selected to organize the event by their Quad. Themes vary based on the city, local culture, and architectural topic of choice. Obviously, these conferences should be planned as virtual conferences in order to be as accessible as possible. However, if the host school is participating in in-person classes, then those members are completely welcome to gather and host a watch party close to the action.

Quad Conferences are a terrific way to meet other students in your region, learn about architecture outside of the classrooms and have a lot of fun!

Here’s where the Quad Conferences have been and will be:

2019-2020 School Year

Fall 2019 Northeast Quad: Hosted by Temple University in Philadelphia, PA

Fall 2019 West Quad: Hosted by University of Hawaii – Manoa in Honolulu, HI

Spring 2020 South Quad: Hosted by Clemson University in Charleston, SC // cancelled due to COVID-19

Spring 2020 Midwest Quad: Hosted by University of Kansas in Kansas City, MO // cancelled due to COVID-19

2020-2021 School Year

Fall 2020 South Quad: Hosted by Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City, OK

Fall 2020 Midwest Quad: Hosted by Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH

Spring 2021 Northeast Quad: BIDDING NOW

Spring 2021 West Quad: BIDDING NOW

Because of this schedule, the anticipated locations for the Spring of 2021 Quad Conferences will be at schools in the Northeast and West Quads. The AIAS is currently looking for schools interested in hosting a regional quadrant conference at their university! If your Chapter is interested in bidding, then please inform your Quad Director (northeast@aias.org or west@aias.org) and read through the Bid Packet here!! Bidding for the 2021 Spring Quad Conferences will take place early in the 2020 Fall Semester.

BID NOW

The deadline to declare your intent to your Quad Director is August 31, 2020. This serves as the first step in the process and as a means to ensuring your chapter understands the requirements and obligations. An orientation call about what planning a Quad Conference would entail will take place in September and your Quad Director will plan the presentation date and time based on your Quad’s availability.
