Let us set the scene…
You’re six months out from summer break or graduating entirely. And you need a job. Where do you look? You’ve heard great things about New York City, but what’s the cost of living? Is it really affordable? How competitive is the market right now? Then again, your studio mate worked in Minneapolis last summer and was raving about the art and music scene and all of the great restaurants and breweries that were popping up. They also mentioned apartment costs and starting salary–and did we mention the amazing beer scene?
So how do you choose?
I Want to Work In (iwtwi) is a career feature of the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS), sponsored by PPI, and will be launching in the fall of 2017. This feature highlights recent graduates who are living and working in towns and cities around the world. Follow us, each month, as we explore a new city: where to live, where to work, where to eat(!), where to make friends and, most importantly, how to get involved in the professional community and achieve your goals in licensure, practice, and beyond.
So where do YOU want to work? London, Paris, New York, Chicago, Hong Kong, Miami, Dubai? Birmingham, AL; Asheville, NC; Portland, ME; Burlington, VT?

Architecture Week: April 9-15, 2017
In April, we are gearing up to bring you snippets of this exciting feature. Teaming up with PPI, we will be featuring five alumni who are currently living, working, and studying in the coolest cities: Washington, DC (we’re biased!), San Francisco, Honolulu, Hong Kong, and Chicago. Through our Instagram account, you will experience a day in the life of each of these alumni and get to experience what it could be like to live and work in these cities. #iwtwi
PPI has also generously sponsored a giveaway at the end of Architecture Week filled with a PPI water bottle, an ARE 5 Review Manual, and a Lego® Architecture set of New York City The winner will be announced at the end of Architecture Week. Enter below to win!
