March 2, 2020

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Advocacy Month is back and better than ever, and your three Advocacy Task Forces can’t wait to show you what they’ve been up to lately. The vast majority of the content will be shared directly through the AIAS Advocacy Instagram account, so be sure to follow @aias_advocacy to keep up with Advocacy Month 2020!

The goal of Advocacy Month is to showcase how to make advocacy a tangible and productive tool, such that AIAS members and chapters can use their voices and collective strength to tackle real issues in architecture school, in the profession, and in our communities. Even the smallest of actions can make a big difference, and being an advocate doesn’t have to consume your entire life! Integrating these little challenges into your daily life can help you be the change you want to see in the world.

EVERY SINGLE DAY IN THE MONTH OF MARCH, one of our Advocacy Task Forces will share a quick tip or strategy for practicing advocacy!

Our challenge for you is to see how many you can do!! Share how you engage with each truth or dare by using the hashtags (#AIASAM2020 #AdvocacyMonth #AdvocAIASy) and tagging @aias_advocacy! The best and most consistent advocates could get reposted on @aiasorg and featured in our Advocacy Month Recap!

The Sustainability & Resiliency, Equity & Diversity, and Health & Wellness Task Forces will each be shedding light on how their respective advocacy realms can be addressed in your day-to-day life. Through a combination of surveys, gathered information, discussion topics, real-world examples, valuable strategies, and more, the three task forces aim to educate and empower you, our members, on how to use advocacy to truly make a difference. The AIAS National Office is also pitching in to share how the AIAS can empower you and amplify your collective voices even further!

We hope that by walking the walk and illustrating how exciting it can be to face issues in architectural education and the profession head on, you and your fellow AIAS advocates will be inspired to share how you practice advocacy and use your voices to positively impact our communities!
