At the Annual AUD Gala Dinner Awards’ 18, the AIAS American University of Dubai Chapter was awarded “The Best Club of the Year Award” for their great effort, dedication, and success throughout the academic year. It was a great honor for the officers (Houda Alkhatib, Lea Halabi, Hebah Qatanani, Abdullah Tahseen, Sandra Boutros, Najah El Jaroudi, Nouran Yehia, Sarah Alkhatib, Karim Khayati, Jessica Abou Haidar), the advisor Prof. Jose Carrillo, as well as the whole Department of Architecture at AUD. The 2017-2018 AIAS team proved their ability by being able to handle many responsibilities across different realms. The chapter organized field trips, lectures, events, and participated in regional collaborations with other AIAS chapters like AIAS University of Bahrain on the Arab Tourism Week. They also played a huge role in organizing and executing the first-ever AIAS International Conference with great success and honor.
AIAS AUD 2017-2018 Vice-President, Lea Halabi, was a distinguished star among all the graduating seniors as she was awarded the “President’s Award”; not only for her great academic excellence but also for her contribution to the university and to the Department of Architecture. She was also the recipient of the “Outstanding Architecture Student of the Year Award”. AIAS AUD is so proud of Lea and privileged to have had the chance to work with her to make this year such a success.
Finally, AIAS AUD would like to thank the professors that helped make this all possible; Dr. Nabyl Chenaf, The Dean of Architecture, Art and Design School, Dr. Georges Kachaamy, The Chair of the Architecture Department and their advisor, and Assistant Professor, Professor Jose Carrillo. They would also like to thank all the faculty in the Department of Architecture, Central Services and Senior Administration who provided full support to make this year a very successful one.
