Washington, DC – December 7, 2018 – American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) Executive Director Nick Serfass recently announced he would be stepping down to assume a new opportunity as Executive Director of RVATECH, also known as the Richmond Technology Council. The transition comes after a tenure of almost five years in which Serfass worked to grow the organization’s membership, programming, and partnerships through digital transformation, efficient resource allocation, and creative storytelling efforts. According to Serfass, the move is a direct reflection of his personal passion for the technology sector and all its capabilities and possibilities.

Serfass leaves a robust portfolio of new programs initiated during his tenure: The #AskAnArchitect Show, CRIT Live and CRIT Scholar, THRIVE: Career Prep, InStudio competitions, the “I Want to Work In” digital series, AIAS: Imagine with Walt Disney Imagineering, and the organization’s first international conference in Dubai.

“I’m proud of the things we’ve accomplished, the relationships formed, and the future design careers we’ve impacted. I owe so much to the teams I’ve been a part of – Boards, staff, and AIAS student members. The organization is poised for a fantastic future and I look forward to watching it continue to kick AIAS.”

Serfass leaves his current role at the AIAS in late January. A search for an Interim Executive Director will begin immediately, followed by a search for a permanent Executive Director to launch in the new year.
