Each month, the AIAS highlights the outstanding dedication and accomplishments of one of its members. The Chapter Leader of the Month can be a Chapter President or any member who has shown tremendous leadership. Congratulations to the August 2019 Chapter Leader of the Month, Elizabeth Caccavano.

Elizabeth Caccavano is going into her third-year architectural design at Temple University. Elizabeth currently serves as the Chapter President and the Co-Chair of the 2019 Fall Quad conference that is being hosted by Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.

The best thing about Temple’s AIAS chapter according to Elizabeth is how involved their members are. They enjoy participating in anything from block cleanups to attending firm tours throughout the city. Elizabeth has also seen a substantial growth in her chapter since she first joined. When Elizabeth began school in 2017, her chapter had a membership of 36 students and last year they had the largest growth in the Northeast Quad with 72 members. With such a large membership it could sometimes be difficult for each voice to be heard and that’s why Elizabeth tries to get as many members involved by featuring members on their social media accounts with things such as “Student of the Week”. Elizabeth and her board are also currently working on collaborative events with the other architecture organizations at Temple University to strengthen the bond between architecture students even more.

Elizabeth is involved in the planning process of “With Love, Philly” Quad this upcoming October 3rd-6th and is looking forward to hosting the Northeast Quad members! She believes that this experience as well as being chapter president has allowed her to grow as a leader in ways that she did not imagine.

Noor Ul Ain Northeast Quad Director says it has been inspiring to watch Elizabeth take on the roles of Chapter President and Co-Chair for the Fall Northeast Quad Conference with such grace. “Under her leadership, the chapter has been able to create diverse and valuable programming that not only engages the membership but also encourages collaboration with other student organizations and disciplines,” says Noor.

Elizabeth is endlessly inspired by not only the members, but her executive board as well. She is grateful that AIAS has given her a way to use her voice to help others and she looks forward to growing with this amazing organization.
