With the world in its ever changing state, what does the future of design look like? Our future designers will have to account for the ongoing climate crisis in creating more sustainable spaces, the future of design in a post-pandemic world to promote health and safety, and how to solve challenges surrounding creating more empathetic, equitable and diverse environments. The Benjamin Moore: Future of Design Challenge is calling on students to start thinking about these factors and ultimately to determine what the future of design looks like in our commercial and residential spaces.
Entries must include:
- Mission statement and storytelling around the concept and design
- How will you increase the sustainability in the design process and aim for a reduced carbon footprint? What types of products or materials will you use?
- Propose a finish schedule for your building (see Sample Paint Spec below). Why did you choose the Benjamin Moore color(s), sheen(s), and specific products?
- How does the design of this building best exemplify your overall design philosophy?
Entrants are asked to submit examples of each iteration of the design process (including initial sketches, process renderings, and final architectural drawings). Students can find all of the information they need to choose color(s), sheen(s), and specific products from Benjamin Moore’s website.
Submissions should be made in a condensed PDF and sent to Jody Allen at jodyallen@aias.org on or before February 1, 2024. Entrants must be current AIAS members, and can be individuals or groups.
