October 2024 Chapter Leader of the Month: Toqa Hazem Imam
Palestine Polytechnic UniversityToqa Hazem Imam, Architecture Student/Interior Design at Palestine Polytechnic University, considers having an influence on society as a civilizational trait that leads to advancement and success, and it should be exceptionally present among young people.
According to Sara Al Sharabati, who recommended her as Chapter Leader of the Month, Toqa is a very hard working leader, who always puts her heart and soul into everything we work on, in our chapter.
“Personally I think that without her efforts we wouldn’t have a chapter at the university! She worked and tried multiple times to help reshape the chapter again until it was approved, and that always shows how she works to benefit the community around her in order to reach a better place. If I want to talk about one thing that I really like about Toqa, it would be her excellent communication and leadership skills. Despite that Toqa is a sophomore student she was able to handle every obstacle and problem we face in the chapter professionally, and she is leading the whole chapter even when she is not the oldest student, which is considered to be rare. Also, she always make sure that we are on track of our plan and vision, constantly checking if we need a meeting, and never messed anything that she needed to be a part of it in order to function well. And that shows how responsible of a person she is.”
Moreover, Toqa always tries to engage everyone of the members in every activity to help create a better community at her university. In her own words:
“I started my engagement with AIAS at the University and claimed my position as president of the Chapter with the intent to provide my services and guidance to my colleagues in the same major in particular, and the university in general. Making a difference is all about having faith in the idea as well as in the ability to provide; this was perfected through the hard work characterized by incredible collaboration and team spirit, with each member sticking to the assigned duty. I would like to sincerely thank our advisor fajr Tawayha, and I consider this a new milestone and the threshold to bigger successes in the future. I also would like to mention that creativity and originality of the ideas while making plans and setting up activities was the thing that set us apart. Some of our work included the discussion of a podcast about Islamic architecture, showcasing students’ projects and skills by organizing several exhibitions. Moreover, we managed to organize free seminars to equip students with specialized skills for each discipline. In this regard, we hope to always give our best.”
