The AIAS and our members have proven year after year that our dedication to our mission and values is unwavering. Leadership, design, and service are the broad categories in which we strive to empower each other into better architects of the world around us, and our Strategic Plan outlines the more specific ways that we can maintain that culture, despite our rapid turnover. Talking the talk is imperative to getting organized and proceeding efficiently, but the real work begins when we collaborate, make plans, and then execute them. The 2019-2020 Board of Directors is excited to join the membership in completing deliverables and breaking down barriers together on this year’s committees and with you as our representative.
Based on last year’s discussions and exploratory research, this year’s committees are poised to hit the ground running. We’ll be leveraging our connections at national and local levels in order to give our best laid plans a real shot at becoming reality, and make a difference in our day-to-day lives as well as our future. There’s a committee for everyone, no matter what you’re passionate about, so please read through the 2019-2020 Committees and Task Forces Packet as many charges, deliverables, and even titles have changed.
What has not changed among the committees, is an intensely collaborative mindset. The revamping of our Studio Culture movement into a Model Learning and Teaching Culture Policy will require all of our efforts, and input from the perspective of each of our committees. Our current, ambitious plan is to craft a draft during the Fall semester with help from the Special Committees, for a review from the Council of Presidents at FORUM Toronto, followed by public review and editing through the lenses of our Standing Committees in the Spring Semester. We are lobbying for collateral organization engagement throughout the entire process, especially because we know we’re not alone in this.
If you have a desire to leave your school, this organization, the profession, or the world a better place than how you found it, then we’d love to have you step up and join our team!
