As we gear up for the new academic year here at the AIAS National Office, we want to call your attention to a change we’ve undergone. Sure, we have a new President, Charlie Klecha, a new Vice President, Obi Okolo, and me, a new Executive Director. However, we also have something else that might stand out. Our ears got a lot bigger! We hope it won’t cause too much of a stir. However, we think you’ll like them. We are listening more than ever. We want to be the organization that responds to your needs as members. We want to be the organization that develops programs that benefit you in concrete ways. We want to be the organization that acknowledges your ideas and executes them successfully. We want to be the organization that helps you succeed in your current role as a student and prepares you for your future role as a professional. And in order to do that, we need to hear you. As an example, please see our recent response to a candid comment on Twitter from a renewing member:
We’ll think bigger. Thx 4 keeping us honest! #listening
RT @KaylaMSherrill How thoughtful of AIAS to offer me a big whopping TWO dollar discount on my national fees next year. #whatabargain @ArchiStdntProbs
So if you see us around this fall, please don’t make fun of us. We’re just trying to listen. Feel free to take us aside and tell us your big idea. That’s what big ears are for!
