To all Chapter Delegates,
Congratulations on your appointment as AIAS Chapter Delegate and welcome to the AIAS Council of Presidents! This year marks the 60th anniversary of the AIAS and we are looking forward to kicking it off at the AIAS Grassroots Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. July 7th-10th.
Grassroots is the first of two annual meetings of the AIAS Council of Presidents (COP); the executive leadership body who determine the strategic vision of the AIAS. We are a member-driven organization and this meeting is your chance to represent the voice of our membership.
The upcoming AIAS Council of Presidents Meeting will take place on Sunday, July 10, 2016, from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm in the Boardroom of the AIA Building, located at 1735 New York Avenue, NW. Please anticipate a 30-minute walk to the AIA Building, arriving no later than 8:15 am and departing around 1:00 pm on Sunday. There will be a COP orientation at the hotel from 12-2 pm on Thursday, July 7.
Each chapter is allotted one delegate, typically the Chapter President, or the President’s appointee to attend the Council meeting. All chapters are expected to attend the COP meeting or nominate a proxy for voting purposes. While seating at the chapter’s placard is limited to the voting delegate, any member is welcome and encouraged to attend the COP as an observer, and may silently communicate their observations and opinions to their voting delegate.
The 2016 AIAS Grassroots Agenda consists of listed items the Council of Presidents are to expect from the meeting. Please refer to the compiled agenda and reports, which will allow you to engage in the meeting in an informed manner.
You are also encouraged to familiarize yourself with the Council of Presidents Orientation Guidebook to help you prepare for the meeting, and understand the protocol for participating in parliamentary governance.
If you have any questions regarding the agenda or the AIAS Grassroots Leadership Conference, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We look forward to seeing you next week in DC!
