The AIAS Grassroots Leadership Conference will feature new educational sessions in the career track. This year the Career Track will be sponsored by PPI (Professional Publications, Inc), who is the Preferred ARE Prep Provider of the AIAS and is also behind the ‘I Want to Work In’ series launching in the fall of 2017.

This year’s Grassroots will cover many topics that will help our members excel in the workforce. Below is a sampling of some sessions.

Attitude is Key

Bridging the gap between education and practice to prepare our members for that first step into practice is where the AIAS can shine.  Hear from small and large firm practitioners on what you can expect on the first day, weeks, and months in the office, along with tips and tricks for making a good impression and doing a great job. One thing they all agree on: attitude is KEY.

Experience Through Practice

Learn what it takes to succeed and make the most out of your experience. Hear from emerging professionals on their paths to success as well as what they expect from the profession moving forward.

Design Research

Get in the know about design research. Meet practicing architects and AIA leaders who are at the forefront of investigating new technologies and practices in the built environment. Learn how to get involved with research as a career path and what the future holds for this exciting part of the architecture profession.

Design Thinking Workshop

At OpenIDEO, people from all corners of the world collaboratively tackle some of the toughest global issues. Join us as we bring in two professionals who will work with attendees in this compelling workshop to focus on empathy, framing problems, ideating, and iterating through writing, sketching, and discussion.

Elevate Your Pitch Workshop

An elevator pitch is a quick description of your business and/or idea in the time it would take to ride up an elevator. Presenting yourself effectively is an essential tool in the architectural profession. A well-planned pitch can open the doors to success in your future endeavors. This two-hour workshop will focus on YOUR pitch and the elements to succeed.

Regardless of whether you serve on your AIAS chapter’s executive board, we hope you’re able to join us in DC this July for Grassroots.
